A little over 100 km away, in the northeast of Kabul, in the Panjshir province of Afghanistan. It is still free from the Taliban, even as the extremist group took over the country after the exit of US forces.
Panjshir, which translates to Five Lions from Persia, has never been conquered, either by foreigners or the Afghans. It remains a liberated zone.
Amrullah Saleh, the First Vice President of Afghanistan, has staked claim to the highest office after Ashraf Ghani fled the country. While Kabul has been taken over by the Taliban, resistance is being mobilised in Panjshir, the only province, out of 34, not under the Taliban control.
