Kenneth Felts knew true love once - but because of his conservative upbringing, he rejected pursuing a life with Philip many years ago. He also had an active life in a church that reinforced to him that his choices were sinful and wrong. So he forced himself into a straight relationship, and later had a daughter. He hid his past romantic experiences from his family for years, out of fear that he would lose his rights as a parent, because of the harsh laws against gay people in California. When his daughter came out to him as a lesbian, he was impressed with her courage - but her freedom was a sharp contrast to how constrained he felt all his life.
After an experience with a difficult cancer diagnosis that forced him to confront his own mortality - and briefly stole some of his will to live - Kenneth realized how vital it would be to live authentically. So he came out as a proud gay man at the age of 90 - and he is an inspiration to us all.
