London celebrates, Part 1
N = Narrator M = Man W = Woman
N: A melting pot of cultures, London is quite unique. Now
it’s February, the usual time to celebrate Chinese New
Year. This year is the Year of the Horse. The
entertainment certainly is impressive, so it’s a great
tourist attraction.
M: I’m from Shanghai, China. We are visitors here and
we happen to be here. It’s a quite exciting place.
W: It’s getting better and better, and it has got a Western
touch which makes it very unique.
N: This is the largest Chinese New Year Celebration that
London has ever seen. It’s also the largest celebration
outside China with tens of thousands of people here
in Central London. It’s a great opportunity for Chinese
businesses to make some money. With Chinatown
just next door to the celebrations in London’s
Trafalgar Square, you can enjoy a complete Chinese
experience. There is lots of singing and dancing here,
as well as the delicious food in Soho. As the Chinese
say: ‘Happy New Year!’
