Joel Elliott, a marine ecologist and invertebrate zoologist with the University of Puget Sound, has been monitoring sea stars in South Puget Sound since 2005.
The video above is at Point Defiance in 2006. It illustrates the abundance of sea stars that his classes used to reliably encounter during their surveys.
Now, since the mass die-offs associated with sea star wasting disease, they see very few sea stars.
