Not fancy, but OH GOSH!
One of the joys of traveling is trying new foods, 😋 especially street food. Mexico has so many delicious types of cuisine.
From expensive world-class gourmet restaurants to inexpensive treats served on carts and street corner stalls. One of the best places to try street food in Cancun is Parque Las Palapas, the main downtown park between Tulum and Yaxchilan Avenue.
The park has many free-standing food trucks, as well as many food stalls. At the last stand (the end with the church) you can taste delicious empanadas.
Top with savory salsa, crumbled queso fresco (cheese) and cebollas curtidas (“pickled pink onions”).
🌮 Mexican tacos are served in soft tortillas. Hardshell is the product of Tex-Mex. Look for Jumbo Burritos. Grill marinated pork for tacos al pastor. Forget cheese, try it with cilantro, onion, pineapple, lime juice and salsa.
Parque Las Palapas also sells esquites, 🌽 boiled corn kernels with mayonnaise, hot sauce and chili powder. Look for a giant metal pot.
For dessert, order a chocoflan or pastel de tres leches 🍰
Direction 🧭
To get to Parque Las Palapas, take the R1 bus from the Hotel Zone, get off at Palacio Municipal, and cross Tulum Avenue. Then take a few steps to the right, turn left onto Tulipanes Pedestrian Street (Burger King is on the corner) and walk one block straight into the park.
ENJOY AND COMMENT BELOW WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO ORDER? 🌯
