Before her final run, Trew was sitting in the bronze medal position and her coach Trevor Ward pulled her aside. Ward told AAP, “We’ve got some crazy things that we say to each other and I just said the crazy things that we say - skibidi sigma.”
While it might mean nothing to many people, it gave Trew the boost she needed to win gold. She said, “It’s like a joke that I have with all my friends, because… sigma is, like, the top.”
When the 14-year-old won gold in the skateboarding park event, she became Australia’s youngest gold medallist. Following her historic win, Trew said, “It was just crazy and so exciting and I just, like, couldn’t believe it when I knew that I was the winner of the Olympics.”
