I had so much fun joining in with ESA Astro Pi Mission Zero this year! It was my second time successfully sending a program I coded to the astronauts onboard the International Space Station!
This year there are two brand new Astro Pi units on the ISS which hell the astronauts conduct Earth and space research. One of the goals of Mission Zero 2022 was to help the astronauts decide what to name the units. I suggested the name Judith Love Cohen after an inspiring woman in space!
When running on the ISS, my program will say hi to the astronauts, tell them what I think they should name one of the new units, take a humidity reading on board the station and show a picture based on whether the humidity level is high or low. The ISS will capture an image of the part of the Earth that it is passing over when it runs my program and I will receive a certificate with those coordinates!
Astro Pi is so much fun and a great way to start learning how to code! It is free to join the fun and young people throughout the EU and UK can participate! Visit www.Astro-pi.org and sign up to the mailing list so you can see when the next mission is going to launch! 🚀
