A complete tour of the concordia-class ship: the Costa Pacifica.
The Costa Pacifica was built in 2009 as the fourth vessel of the Concordia-Class of ships. One of her sister ships was delivered to Carnival Cruise Lines as the Carnival Splendor, the other four sister ships (Costa Concordia, Costa Serena, Costa Favolosa and Costa Fascinosa) were delivered to Costa Cruises.
On 13 January 2012, her sister-ship Costa Concordia struck a rock just off the eastern shore of Isola del Giglio, on the western coast of Italy, causing the ship to lift to her starboard side. Despite the gradual sinking of the ship, its complete loss of power, and its proximity to shore in calm seas, an order to abandon ship was not issued until over an hour after the initial impact. It was one of the main tragedies the cruise industry has ever had, killing 32 people.
