Saadi Shirazi, also known by his pen name Saadi, was a Persian poet and prose writer during the Middle Ages. He was born in 1210 and passed away in 1291. He is renowned for the excellence of his writings and the profundity of his social and moral ideas.
Since Saadi is regarded as one of the best poets of the classical literary tradition, Persian scholars have given him the designation "The Master of Speech," "The Wordsmith," or simply "Master." He has also been cited in Western traditions. The Guardian has listed "Bustan" as one of the top 100 books of all time.
