I recently took a deep dive into my DNA by downloading my raw data from Ancestry.com and analyzing it with FamilyTreeDNA.COM. That’s where I discovered that my paternal lineage is part of haplogroup C-F3977. This is a Y-DNA haplogroup, meaning it's passed down from father to son, tracing my male ancestors back thousands of years.

C-F3977 is a subclade of the larger haplogroup C, which has been prevalent in parts of Asia and Oceania for tens of thousands of years. Haplogroup C is believed to have originated in Asia around 60,000 years ago, shortly after modern humans first left Africa.
