Mayor Muriel Bowser and DC Council Chairman Phil Mendelson, Co-Chairs of the New Columbia Statehood Commission, examine current efforts and provide key updates on DC’s push to secure statehood.

Mayor Bowser is joined by Shadow Senators Paul Strauss, Michael Brown, and Shadow Representative Franklin Garcia, who also serve on the Commission.

Last November, DC residents overwhelmingly demonstrated broad support for statehood, when nearly 80 percent of voters approved an advisory referendum to make Washington, DC the 51st state.
