Puttu is a breakfast dish eaten in South India and Sri Lanka. Puttu means "portioned" in Malayalam. It is made of steamed cylinders of ground rice layered with coconut shavings, sometimes with a sweet or savory filling on the inside. Its a delicious and simple dish, tastes great when cooked in bamboo or coconut shell. Puttu is served hot with sweet side dishes such as Banana and Pappad, Chickpea masala, Greenpeace masala, etc.
