In her talk, the specialists and social activist introduces the idea of “the sexual and gender revolution”, which makes reference to the transformations of the concepts and stereotypes about gender roles in the context of the Cuban Revolution. Castro focuses also on the rise of feminist ideas and their importance for the society, taking into account the ways in which women have been empowered in the last 50 years on the Caribbean island.
Expert in Psychopedagogy and Sexology. She is the director of the National Center for Sexual Education (CENESEX) and the principal editor of Society and Sexology Magazine. The leader of numerous campaigns for the rights of the LGBTIQ community in Cuba.
