Earthquake lights can appear in various forms, including glowing orbs hovering in the air. According to the American Seismological Association, this phenomenon is known as triboluminescence and has been documented since the 17th century. Lights resembling the Northern Lights are visible for only a fraction of a second. They are quite rare, occurring in less than 0.5% of all earthquakes.
