Isuzu ADAS and More - It's not autonomous - but we're getting closer. A brief product review by Michael Olden of Lee-Smith, Inc. 423-618-3323 molden@lee-smith.com introducing the Isuzu Advanced Driver Assistance System for the N Series diesel chassis (NPR HD, NPR XD, NQR, NRR 7 man crew cab and 3 man standard cab). This includes the Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control systems. I've included a tour of the other switches and components of the cab to complement the review.
How can Isuzu make your day? Ask the owner of the business listed on the side of the next commercial truck involved accident you pass by. The advent of Lane departure, Adaptive cruise, and Automatic Emergency Braking continues to reduce the controllable loss of assets, people, and productivity. If you really believe your company is bullet proof - then why did you bother to incorporate? Let's face it - the corporate shield is one of the first safety features you created. Not having ADAS is going to become the next generations Russian roulette. Especially as companies 'elect' not to install available safety devices. And, though the truck is not made autonomous - and though there is an ongoing human component, the mitigation of risk of loss at any level is a smart decision.
The difference we will see in the days to come - active systems are a much higher level of protection than passive systems. An the best accident in the world is the one that is avoided!
