CROP HEALTH MONITORING USING DRONE / UAV, HARVEST WITH THE MOST FORESIGHT.
At MySpatial we strive to help planters and agronomists use drone-based multispectral imagery to make informed decisions. The early signs of plant stress are not visible in manual scouting, but the different vegetation indices produced from the visible and invisible spectral bands obtained by a multispectral sensor can be identified earlier and more accurately. The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) is one representation of the collected data that provides an overview of the size and greenness of the crop canopy. The crop will be in an explosive stage of growth where stress factors begin to influence the reflectance of leaves. Using NDVI to delineate zones of stress, and on-the-ground data to identify the causes, planters and agronomists can apply variable rate prescriptions of fertilizer or pesticides and take action to address disease based on actual field conditions. Furthermore, data collected on a regular basis allows the plantation to chart the current health and vigour of crops as well as monitor improvements in crop health over time.
