The Eyewitness to History video library was created to enable audiences everywhere to hear firsthand testimony from Holocaust survivors. This video was recorded on January 18, 2023. It features Agi Geva, who was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1930. Nazi Germany occupied its ally Hungary in March 1944. Authorities quickly imposed additional antisemitic restrictions and then forced Jews into transit ghettos. In June, authorities relocated Agi and her family from the ghetto to a brick factory. They were then deported to the Auschwitz-Birkenau killing center. Agi managed to remain with her mother and sister despite several selections, transfers to three other concentration camps, and forced labor. After surviving a death march, Agi, her mother, and her sister were liberated by American troops in April 1945.
