A cold northerly winds is continuing to push polar air southwards across the country as the jet stream heads down to Spain...
Today:
Wednesday is off to a cold and frosty start with lots of ice across the country. We've got more snow showers in the north and west giving significant accumulations in places.
Through the rest of the day snow showers will continue in the north and west but should gradually start to ease through Wales and south west England. Many central and eastern regions will stay dry with sunny spells but wintry showers are likely towards the east coast. A cold day with temperatures of -1C to +5C.
Tonight:
Snow showers should gradually retreat back to Scotland with many places becoming dry with long clear spells though patchy rain is possible in the far south west. A very cold night with a widespread, locally severe frost as temperatures plummet to -8C to -2C.
Tomorrow
Patchy rain is likely for the far south and south west with snow showers mostly confined to northern Scotland. Otherwise a mainly dry day with plenty of sunshine but it will be cold again with temperatures of just -1C to +4C. Watch out for another harsh frost on Thursday night.
Outlook:
Friday: Mostly dry and staying cold.
Saturday: Light rain and drizzle in the north and west. Milder in the west, still cold in the south and east.
Sunday: Rain in the west, dry in the east. Still quite cold in the east.
