This video demonstrates Cosserat physics and an animated mesh mapped onto it.
The physics are simulating torsion and bending resistance over quaterions, stretch and compression over control points, as well as intrinsic bending. The physical properties being simulated are not intended for muscle or bone tissue.
Quaternions and control points are interpolated for mesh animation. The mesh is mapped onto the rod in a preprocessing step.
