“Slow down, look, and listen, and you will find the most extraordinary stories in the most ordinary places.” Alvin Lam takes us through the stories of the people of Hong Kong and why it is important to take a step back to appreciate and preserve them in a fast-paced world like ours. Alvin is a home-grown artist who recalls picking up a paintbrush long before chopsticks. Raised in Hong Kong and later having spent a number of years abroad, upon his return he quickly noticed how Hong Kong’s streetscape has transformed, and at an ever accelerating pace in the past decade. Embarking on a personal journey of rediscovering Hong Kong, Alvin left his career in hospitality in 2020 and began uncovering unspoken stories one sketch at a time, telling real stories through watercolor of ordinary heroes whose lifetime of devotion weaves into the rise of Hong Kong and the rich cultural fabric that makes Hong Kong so uniquely Hong Kong. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
