Do you know what “casing a house” means?

This term refers to the preliminary action burglars will sometimes take before deciding to rob a house. They may pass by a property multiple times during the day or night, taking note of what time people are coming and going. Often times things such as landscape design, distance from the road, the presence of a security system and other factors will impact their decision to strike or not.

Signs that may indicate your house or neighborhood is being “cased” include seeing an increased number of strangers, or the same stranger in your neighborhood multiple times, strange vehicles parked on the side of the road for extended periods of time, or any other peculiar behavior that is out of the ordinary.
