The opening for the new 2 Line Sound Transit Link light rail Bellevue-Redmond service finally arrived.
It’s a project years in the making, and officials said it's about improving mobility and access for everyone who lives on the eastside.
The new 2 Line will include eight stops between South Bellevue and Redmond with trains every 10 minutes during operating hours.
The link line comes 16 years after voters approved a ballot measure for light rail to the Eastside, but it is not what Sound Transit originally promised.
The line was originally expected to open at the same time as a cross-lake connection to Seattle. However, a contractor for Sound Transit has had to re-do thousands of concrete blocks for the train service, meaning starting over from scratch.
