Board members may sometimes find themselves in conflicts of interest situations. These conflicts of interest can be troublesome, not only for the individual board member, but for the whole organization and how it is perceived and valued by the community.
This session will include the following:
• Defining a conflict of interest (COI)
• Exploring the kinds of COIs your organization may experience and their implications
• Expectations of individuals involved in COIs or perceived COIs
• Elements of COI and disclosure statements
Learning Objectives:
-Participants will learn the concepts and definition of a conflict of interest
-Participants will learn strategies for recognizing and preventing conflicts of interest through disclosure statements
-Participants will explore the types of COI's that could be experienced and their implications
