With a sleek new look and premium upgrades, does 2025 Chevrolet Traverse High Country stack up against the competition, or is it just shiny chrome masking the same old Traverse?
First impressions—Chevy has clearly aimed for luxury vibes with the High Country. After skipping a year, it’s back with a chrome-heavy design that sets it apart from the sportier RS trim. The grille gets shiny silver accents, and there’s a C-shaped chrome element framing the lights. While it looks upscale, some might find all that chrome a bit much, especially if you prefer the blacked-out aesthetic of rivals like the Kia Telluride SX Prestige or the Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy.
Moving inside, the High Country’s cabin feels high-end with leather-appointed seats, ambient lighting, and even a Bose 10-speaker sound system. But here’s where things get tricky: while heated and ventilated front seats and power-folding third-row seats sound great, these features are pretty standard in competitors like the Toyota Grand Highlander Platinum. And let’s be honest—some might find the interior design a bit too safe compared to the bold, tech-heavy layouts in options like the Mazda CX-90.
Chevy replaced the old V6 with a 328-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, and while it’s plenty powerful, it’s not as buttery smooth as the engines in the Honda Pilot or the Ford Explorer Platinum. The High Country gets an upgraded suspension, but Chevy hasn’t really spilled the details, leaving us to wonder if it’s truly a game-changer. And towing? It does have Hitch Guidance and Hitch View, which are handy, but competitors offer similar—or better—tech at this price point.
2025 Traverse High Country starts at $54,995. That’s not cheap, and with the RS trim priced even higher, it makes you wonder—are you better off with a similarly priced Telluride or Palisade that arguably offers more style and tech? The Traverse High Country feels like it’s trying hard to justify its cost but doesn’t quite break away from the pack.
