Kek Lok Si Buddhist temple is one of main highlights in Malaysia's tourism attraction. Kek Lok Si Temple was built in 1893, the temple hillside, covering 12 hectares.
Kek Lok Si in Penang tourism is quite weighty. Kek Lok Si holds an auspicious lamp for prayers before the Lunar New Year which is called "poke auspicious lantern light". This New Year will be embellished with a peaceful atmosphere, solemn atmosphere with a spectacular scenary.
Although the temple resembles the Chinese Goddess of Mercy Temple, but the design and decor represents a Southern eastern style. There is a huge statue of Guanyin standing in Heshan, which was carefully constructed for 27 years. Around the appearance of the 16 octagonal pillars it became the world's largest audiovisual room. Kek Lok Si Temple has a pond which consist of thousands of turtles waiting for tourists to feed them.
Kek Lok Si is the most famous for its pagoda, architectural features established and built in 1930 with a Nanyang style to it, looking like temples from China, Thailand and Myanmar. You can purchase ticket to take a lift travelling back and forth to the top of the hill overlooking a scenic view of Penang.
