After the bustle of La Paz, Cochabamba is a refreshing change of pace and atmosphere. For one, it is 1000 metres lower at 2558m altitude, even though the way here climbs up to 4500m.
I decided to come here first instead of direct to Oruro and Cochabamba did not disappoint. September 14 Square with its Metropolitan Cathedral and Gobernacion has a lot happening.
There is the Museum of Archaeology and the impressive Museo Convento Santa Teresa in the middle of the city. Palacio Portales is within walking distance as is Cristo de la Concordia.
The city has a young population and a lively night life - including the market - and a good choice of restaurants.
