On Monday, the BJP-controlled municipal corporation in the city received a notice from the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) requesting an explanation for the "poor" performance of elementary schools within two weeks.
The National Achievement Survey (NAS) report 2021 for Class 3 was used by the DCPCR, the Delhi government's official watchdog on issues relating to children's rights, to emphasize the caliber of instruction and learning in municipal schools. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi is in charge of providing basic education. The BJP-led Centre presently controls the combined MCD. The NAS Class-3 results, which place Delhi among the bottom 5 performing states in India, offer a depressing image of teaching and learning in municipal schools.
