Metagate is a company that develops Augmented Reality (AR) experiences on the OVER the Reality platform. Its mission is to facilitate AR experiences for the business world. They use a de-risking approach, aiming for a gradual and mindful introduction to consolidate a long-term positioning and promote the creation of communities.

During the NFT Fest in Lugano, Metagate collaborated with Yasmine Mahmoudieh to create an AR installation. The experience featured a physical component, consisting of an artwork called "Turn Me" created by the artist. This artwork was integrated into an AR experience that included a digitally geolocated body of water precisely positioned over physical mirrors, creating an integration between the physical and digital realms. Floating plastic bottles were placed on the digital water, and when touched in Augmented Reality, they transformed into digitalized artworks by the artist.

Yasmine Mahmoudieh: "My piece, "OceanaWarp," has been selected to be part of this epic showcase! "OceanaWarp" merges "Oceana" signifying ocean and "Warp," symbolizing a transformation of reality. The piece confronts the pressing issue of plastic pollution in our oceans through the innovative lens of augmented reality, propelling the viewer into an altered yet insightful world.

Eco-Conscious Transformation: The exhibition includes functional 3D-printed pieces converted from recycled plastic, each embedded with an NFC chip for an enriched, seamless experience. Further elevating our narrative on sustainability, the AR installation innovatively combines Mycelium, recycled plastics and design as a unique solution to combat plastic pollution, thereby intensifying both authenticity and awareness of our planet's well-being.

🖼 Hosted under the patronage of the Municipality of Lugano and curated from the prestigious Poseidon DAO collection, this exhibition serves as a celebration of the innovative storytelling of digital art forms—from blockchain technology to NFTs, augmented reality to virtual reality, and "Phygital" creations that blur the boundaries between physical and digital realms."

In summary, Metagate's collaboration with Yasmine Mahmoudieh resulted in the conception and realization of a unique and engaging AR installation that allowed the audience to experience a fusion of physical and digital art during the NFT Fest in Lugano. Such initiatives highlight the potential of Augmented Reality in the realm of artistic expression and immersive experiences.
