These are two new challenges Malaysia faces in purchasing FA50.


Malaysia asks KAI to match the price of the HAL Tejas Mk1A since South Korea and Malaysia are locked with the FA 50's final price. To make the FA 50 version's unit price equivalent to that of the Tejas MK-1A, they requested that it be reduced from 50 million to 43 million USD for the AESA radar and in-flight refuelling versions.

KAI chose a small number of fighter jets for the nation's defence squad, which should be single-seaters and trainer-type aircraft with refuelling capabilities. The FA 50 from KAI and the Tejas fighter jet from HAL were chosen for Malaysia. It ultimately decided on the Korean fighter plane.
