In this video I answer the question: 'Why does Excel change dates to seemingly random numbers?'
The answer is - it doesn't! Excel assigns a serial number to each date it recognises and sometimes, depending on the function you are using, Excel will return a date as its serial number. So the number is not random, it is actually a count of days since 31/12/1899. There are two ways you can get around this problem...
