Many people live and grow food in climates with distinct growing seasons, which have periods of abundance and parts of the year where there is a definite scarcity of what we are able to harvest from our gardens or is available locally. The hunger gap is the period of the year when very little is left over from the previous season and before this season’s growth starts to produce a fresh supply. Filling this hunger gap is often possible, but can require focus and compromise.
