American expats and citizens of countries around the globe are celebrating today with the re-election of United States President Barack Obama. People gathered in pubs, cafes and at parties to watch the results and those in support of the Democrat President are jubilant at the election results.
In Kenya, Obama's grandmother Sarah was dancing in celebration of her grandson's second term, along with the whole village of Kogelo, where Obama's father was born. When asked if she was worried about the election, Sarah Obama said no she had "full faith and confidence that he was going to win."
People celebrated in Europe when they heard the news with some staying up late to party. Parties were held in anticipation of the result in France, Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom with ecstatic cries of joy when the election was declared for President Obama.
Some countries such as Iraq are less enthusiastic with the result however, and those on the streets seemed indifferent to the result saying that US foreign policy in the Middle East doesn't change between Democrat or Republican leaders.
Now that President Obama has been reelected he can now once again focus on governing the country without the constant shadow of the election looming over his shoulder.
