◼︎☞ The Igreja do Carmo and Igreja dos Carmelitas,
at the corner of Praça de Carlos Alberto and Rua do Carmo, are two churches in Porto that stand almost side by side. The two churches are separated by a very narrow house (casa escondida) that was inhabited until the 1980's.
◼︎☞ CASA ESCONDIDA
-the narrowest in the city of Porto, Casa Escondida was completed at the same time as the Church of the Third Order of Carmo, in 1768. It hosted secret meetings during the French Invasions, Liberalism, Siege of Porto and, shortly after the proclamation of the Republic, in the persecution of religious Orders.
◼︎☞ CORDOARIA´S GARDEN is a lush garden in Porto. The bronze sculptural set shares a common characteristic: an expression of contagious laughter.
◼︎☞ SAO BENTO STATION
-in the city centre of Porto is often described as one of the most beautiful train stations in the entire world. The walls and ceilings covered with 22 thousand tiles - azulejos - by Jorge Colaço, painter, caricaturist and potter.
These tiles depict some of the most relevant episodes of Portuguese history.
◼︎☞The Camara Municipal (City Hall) in Porto dates from the 1920's and is located at the top of the elegant Aliados Avenue near Trindade Station.The tower of the building rises to 70 meters with a carillon clock in its center.
