What you need to know👇🏽
1. You’ll definitely need cash! I just assume these days I can pay everywhere with card and that’s not the case so always remember to have some cash on you at all times
2. The rum punch in Antigua is STRONG, drinks slowly if you are a lightweight 😂
3. Take mozzy spray! The bites were so real
4. All the beaches are public so if you want to visit one and someone tells your it’s private eg hotel owner, then know your rights! You’re allowed to be there
5. Things are quite expensive on the island so just be prepared for that, I paid £8 for a pineapple🙊
6. In fact, I would highly recommend hiring a car if you’re there for more than 2 days as you need to drive to get around, it’s too far to walk
7. There are East Caribbean dollars and USD, both use the same dollar $ sign but the rate is about 1 USD to 2.7 ECD so make sure you always confirm before paying which currency and also try to have a little bit of both currencies
8. Your daily reminder to reapply sunscreen throughout the day, the Caribbean sun is stronggggg it’s the only place I’ve been burnt in however long I can remember
9. Organise your visit to Barbuda at least a few days in advance as the ferry only runs one time a day going back and forth so you’ll need to make sure taxis to the port etc are all organised as you can’t just do this on a whim for example day before
10. Antigua is pronounced Anti-ga (Antee-gah), not Anti-gwa (Anti-guah) like the city in Guatemala
