Post-Punk was the moment where punk got weird. No longer was it just three chords and the truth, but in came attempts at genre fusion, minimalism and experiments in electronica. However not every band got the sales or respect they deserved at the time, whether it was a case of the right sound at the wrong time, breaking up too soon or just being too weird to succeed. But that’s not to say these lesser known groups weren’t influential. For every Fall, Cure or Wire there’s a more obscure offering with a list of rabid acolytes. This is New British Canon and these are 7 Influential Post Punk Bands You’ve Never Heard.
