Tuesday was Day 2 of the annual live-fire Han Kuang exercises. The Navy simulated a large-scale offensive operation. Another part of the drill was a hostage rescue simulation by three special operations units.
The Military Police Special Services Company, the National Police Agency Special Operations Group, and the Coast Guard Administration Special Task Force conducted a joint exercise for the first time. They simulated the rescue of high-value political and military hostages, including President Tsai Ing-wen.
