Meaning (Adapted/Extended from www.karnatik.com):
P: Pray ("yanavE") to Lord Shiva ("Shamba SivA"), who resides in the silver mountains ("rAjita-giri"), the snow-clad Himalayas. He enchants ("manOharA") his consort Shambhavi. He is higher than the highest ("parAtparA"). He is very kind ("krpA-karA).
C1: Pray, You ("nIvE") are my guru and God ("daivambani"). I meditate ("sEvimpucu") on you at all times ("yE vELanu"), and constantly pray to you ("sadA midini"), O Lord Shiva.
C2: I never forget ("maruvaka") that you are the ultimate ("parama") treasure of compassion ("dayA-nidhi"). O the one who resides in my ("nA") heart ("hrdayamuna"). Oh! MahadEva. O great Lord ("mahA-prabhO")! You are the handsome Lord ("sundara nayaka"). You grant ("dAyaka") boons ("vara") to the dEvas ("sura"). You dispel ("hara") the fears ("bhaya") in this world ("bhava").
C3: You reside ("sthira") in ("muna") MadurApura. Give me boons ("varamulu-osagu"); and remove ("haruni") daily worries and be with me always ("niratamunu dalaci").
C4: You give auspiciousness ("shubha-kara"). You have the moon ("shashi") on your crown ("makuTa") that you wear ("dhara"). You defeated ("hara") the demons Jaya, Vijaya and Tripura. You love ("lOla") the devout people ("shrta-jana"). You are the embodiment ("shIlA") of wonderful ("adbhuta") virtues ("guNa"). You protect those who seek you ("krta-nuta-pAlA"). You enchant ("lOlA") the wise ("patituni").
You have lotus like feet that give salvation (mudambala ranga padAbjamulanu padambujErcu"). You are Pashupathi -- Lord of cows (also reference to Him being the Lord of Nandi). You give us ("anucu") knowledge ("gnyaanamu"), meditation ("dhyaanamu"), divine oblations ("snaanamu"), charity ("daanamu"), dignity ("maanamu"), self-respect ("abhimaana"). You gem-adorned ("kanikara-muna") lotus like feet ("caraNa-ambulu") are sought ("kanu-kona") by devotees ("shrutulan-nutula") whom you give ("anucu") grace ("sharaNa") to.
C5: I will forever ("sAresAregu") recite your name ("nI nAma") as the mantram/chant. I have yearned for the chant of your Lotus feet ("pAda-Ambuja"). You are ("nIvE-yani") the refuge ("dikku") for this Cinni Krishna (the poet). I have believed ("nammukoni") you thus, O Sokkanatha.
Note (From Ravi Kiran's Book):
Swarajatis are more sophisticated musical forms than geethams, both in terms of size and quality. They have been composed in the 3rd speed, and generally have a pallavi and a few Charanams. The charanams are generally rendered once as swaras and the second time as lyrics. Some swarajatis also have an anupallavi incorporated in them. Many swarajatis like the sublimely devotional ratna-trayam of Shyama Shastri are concert worthy.
