In this virtual travel vlog, Jolty and I are going to show you the city center of Eger, Hungary, in VR 360.
Located in the county of Heves, in Hungary, Eger is a medieval fortress and the second-largest city in the northern part of the country. The architecture of the buildings is mostly baroque and it also hosts the top northern Turkish minaret.
In the past, Eger witnessed several dominations such as Mongols, Turkish (Ottomans) during the 16th century, Habsburgs in the 17th up to the 19th century, and later it became part of Hungary after the 1848 Independence Revolution. Eger also experienced the communist rule during which several industrial facilities and communist blocks of flats were built around the old town.
Worth mentioning the Siege of Eger that took place back 1552 and 1596 during which the fortress was entirely destroyed, only later to be rebuilt. Géza Gárdonyi wrote his novel, "Eclipse of the Crescent Moon" in remembrance of the 1552 battle, and his work has been translated into several international languages.
Nowadays, Eger is renowned in Hungary for the wineries and beautiful baroque architectural inheritance from the Habsburgs, representing one of the main tourists' attractions in Hungary, alongside Keszthely and Budapest. If you plan to visit Eger, remember here are guided tours of the wineries as well.
In this VR 360 vlog and travel tour to Eger, Hungary, my friend and I are going to show you Eger city center and we hope this is a good invitation to visiting it in reality.
