Filmed using a GoPro Hero3 Black 14 July 2014
This is not a video of the Haute Route undertaken in winter on skis. It is a short video showing how you can enjoy a morning's skiing in the middle of the Summer in Zermatt on the Glacier Paradise Pistes.
Skiing is from 7am to 1pm essentially on two limited pistes running parallel with the slopes used by National teams undertaking Summer training.
My treat to myself for completing the Haute Route trek from Chamonix to Zermatt in June/July 2014.
With a 7.30am start Summer Glacier skiing in Zermatt is different and with pistes of 6.5km, compared with the 320km of pistes on offer in the Winter its the fact that you're skiing in the middle of July that's the whole point of the exercise.
Skiing at 4000m altitude, alongside alpine teams and national development squads from around the world is a buzz. The only downside was not having my own boots and skis.... a small price to pay in terms of discomfort for a fantastic morning. (Skiing finishes at 2pm)
