Mourning Warblers are a central and east central US warbler. Unlike many warblers, they do not fly across the Gulf of Mexico to migrate, preferring to travel the eastern coast of Mexico through south Texas and up and nest across Canada and the Great Lakes region. They bear a striking resemblance to the MacGillivray's Warbler which is a primarily a western bird, and the Mourning Warbler lacks the broken white eye ring of the MacGillivray's.
