A local court in Varanasi today has ordered that the survey work will continue to take place in the Gyanvapi mosque-Kashi Vishwanath temple premises. The Court has also ordered that Ajay Kumar, commissioner appointed earlier by the Court, will not be removed. It has also appointed 2 more lawyers as commissioners and has asked the commission to submit a report by May 17. In its order, the Court also said the entire mosque complex will be surveyed and till the survey isn't complete, it shall continue.
The Court had last month ordered an inspection of the premises after a petition was moved by five Hindu women asking for year-long access to offer prayers at the Hindu shrine behind the western wall of the Gyanvapi masjid. The survey couldn't take place as the mosque committee had denied permission for videography.
