The traditional value chain that led from the retail brand to the consumer has been broken
The new value chain starts with the consumer and leads to the retail brand.
With smartphones and ipad, and laptops and click & collect and all the rest
It is the consumer who pulls the string.
This change in consumer-retailer relationship caught many retail brands off guard
There is good news and bad news.
The bad news is, by the time the bloodletting is over, those retail brands that do not adapt will disappear from the retail landscape forever
The good news is, those handful of retail brands that change their strategies to adapt to the new retail environment will be successful beyond their wildest imagination.
Every retail brand now has a choice:
Adapt and benefit from the massive opportunity presented by multichannel retailing or don’t adapt and be swept aside by the tsunami
