Restaurant owners and representatives from the Rhode Island Hospitality Association organized an eco-friendly tea party in Providence to protest the proposed state meals tax increase. The tax hike would increase the eight percent meals tax to ten percent, which they say could harm businesses that are already seeing a decrease in customers due to the recession.
