The KC-46 Pegasus is a new generation American aerial refueling aircraft, developed from the Boeing 767-200ER commercial aircraft frame. Designed to replace the outdated KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft, the KC-46 Pegasus is capable of multi-purpose refueling and transporting cargo and soldiers. With an advanced refueling system including a refueling boom and hoses, it can support many different types of military aircraft.
The aircraft is equipped with modern technology such as the Remote Vision System (RVS) that allows the pilot to operate remotely, ensuring accuracy during refueling. The KC-46 is capable of carrying up to 96 tons of fuel and carrying an additional 114 passengers or cargo in the cabin. In addition, it has the ability to defend itself with a missile warning system, modern radar and protective armor.
With a range of more than 11,000 km, the KC-46 is a strategic asset that helps the US maintain its ability to project power globally. Despite initial technical challenges, the KC-46 Pegasus has proven to be an important part of modernizing the US and allied air forces.
