Kirklees Year of Music were pleased to invite Come Play With Me to put together a panel of music industry professionals to come and talk about their experiences on building their careers in the industry as part of their I Know A Place conference programme.

The music industry programme continues to bring you a selection of seminars and webinars as part of our Kirklees Year of Music 2023 events.

Bio: Belén Suárez AKA Mami Chula is a South American born, Leeds-based DJ and multidisciplinary artist. She is the founder of Azúcar Creative Space, an initiative to address the colonial legacies of music whilst creating community. She is also a regular DJ for Bazuka and Sable Radio and helps run Molasses, a PoC social coming together to cultivate joy, community and mutual aid.

ADENiCO

Bio: ADENiCO is an independent music artist and events organiser from Huddersfield. In 2016 he created the Collective Sessions platform aimed at providing performance opportunities for artists in the local community. As a recording and performing artist he writes and composes original material drawing on a range of genres including Soul, Indie Rock and Hip-Hop.

Bio: Hailing from London, IYESHA is a Leeds based DJ, creative and co-founder of ‘Rat Party’ a club night and collective who work to create safer spaces for sex workers, the gender diverse and QTIPOC in leeds.

She/her
Bio: Matilde looks after all the CPWM partnerships, sponsorships and assists on our media outputs including the magazine and podcast. She is one half of alt-pop duo ‘In The Morning Lights’ and a songwriter.

Come Play With Me is a non-profit music development organisation based in Leeds. We specialise in supporting people from marginalised communities to further their careers in music and creative industries. I Know A Place is a series of workshops, networking and conference events that help us work towards our mission of creating a more equitable creative industry.
