R & R is an 18m Malcolm Tennant-designed displacement-hull power catamaran ideal for a couple to enjoy remote cruising or coastal escapades. Built by Baker Craft Marine, the catamaran was constructed to the very highest standards of structural engineering and features a full-length keel with prop protection allowing her to be beached if required.
While easily handled by a couple, R & R can actually accommodate up to nine people. A large master cabin on the main deck features a spacious ensuite, and there are additional double and queen cabins to port, plus either two singles or a single and a pull-out double berth located in the wheelhouse.
A real feature of this boat is the large day head and shower access from the cockpit, which is great for washing down after a dive or a swim in the afternoon. The cockpit boasts roll-down sunscreen or full weather protection clears and is a spacious retreat that accommodations six at the configurable tables and bench seating. The built-in, fully stainless steel chef-style BBQ is great for cooking up the day’s catch, and an integrated deck fridge/freezer makes entertaining a delight, while storage box seats on the extended fixed platform are convenient for stowing gear while enjoying sunset drinks. There is also a provision for a two-person dining table between the box seats for evening meals, and night-time viewing of the fish life is easy with the Blue Aqua Luma underwater lighting.
The main saloon has an abundance of natural light from the large coach house windows, and the generous L-shaped galley features generous bench space and storage, domestic refrigeration, dishwasher and Miele combi convection microwave. Relax in the saloon and watch the large flat-screen TV connected to an Australia-wide aurora TV receiver and with your own IQ box Foxtel via an auto-positioning 60cm satellite Ocean TV receiver.
The technical space houses a 12kw Westebeke genset as well as a fuel polishing system and fuel transfer pumps, so the boat can be fuelled from either side without moving the filler hose. A machinery space behind each engine room houses workshop, various pumps, fuel and water filters, refrigeration and fully automatic watermaker, all easily positioned for servicing in a dry insulated space. Reverse-cycle air conditioning units service all cabins and living areas as well as the bridge for optimal comfort throughout the year.
R & R boasts wide and safe decks, and the two tenders have their own davit cranes on the foredeck leaving the boat’s aft free for uncluttered access to watersports and fishing. An oversized windlass operates two large anchors for safely anchoring in the wildest of conditions.
The fully enclosed wheelhouse delivers commanding views and gives the feeling you are in a real little ship with two pilot seats and a dashboard a much larger boat would be proud of. Manoeuvring is easy courtesy of the additional cockpit control stations. On the wheelhouse deck, two glass-bottom kayaks are mounted on a special rack, and a deck chest freezer takes care of the extra fish catch or ice cream.
