We’re continuing around Norfok with this 7 mile circular walk. We start and finish at the Community Hub Car Park, Bridewell Lane, Acle, Norwich. NR13 3RA.

After leaving the car in the ‘free’ car park, head back out on foot the same way you came in. Take a right onto Bridewell Lane and then the 1st right onto Pyebush Lane. Continue along until you leave the built up area and find dirt/grass tracks. You will see a Pillbox on your right hand side if you look closely underneath the foliage. Carry on along the track in the direction of St. Mary’s Church in Fishley. There is another Pillbox 250 Metres to the left if you fancy a quick detour or continue on the wide open footpath through the field in front. Keep on this path through the treeline until you reach the ‘Secret Garden’. This is at the point you turn right heading into the village of Upton with Fishley. You come out onto ‘The Green’ where you turn right and then take the 1st left down Marsh Road. Follow this until you come to a T-Junction, where you go straight over onto a concrete track. You need to continue down this track going through a gate, which may or may not be open. Take the 2nd track on the right hand side, with the Black Mill ( Upton Tall Mill ) then in front of you. Follow this path down to the Mill where you will need to go through a gate and between the buildings down to the River Bure.

Turn right here and walk along the riverbank footpath passing Oby Drainage Mill on the opposite bank. Carry on along the footpath to Upton Dyke, where you turn right and walk along Upton Dyke before doing a U-Turn at the end and walk back up Upton Dyke and rejoin the riverbank footpath. As you continue along you will see Clippesby Drainage Mill across the river and then pass the Northern River Sailing Club. Follow the curve of the river towards Acle Bridge. Once at the boatyard veer right passing the toilets on your left and cross over Old Road. You can either visit and pass through the Acle Bridge Inn, refreshments optional or take a left and follow the ‘Weavers Way’ footpath signs and go behind the Acle Bridge Inn.

You then need to get back on the riverbank footpath to the right along the River Bure again. Follow this path ( part of Weavers Way ) passing Mill House Farm. You take a right turn at Acle Dike and follow the path to the end of the Dike and onto the asphalt road straight ahead ( leaving Weavers Way ). The Hermitage Pub will be on your right hand side after a short while. Cross over the road ( Old Road/Acle Link Road ) and continue on Old Road following the footpath signs. You will come across a sign for another Pillbox 50 Yards or so away if you are interested. Continue up Old Road and turn right onto Bridewell Lane. The Car park is on your right, back within the Acle Community Hub.
