Maharasan is a 1993 Indian Tamil-language comedy film produced, directed and co-written by G. N. Rangarajan. The film stars Kamal Haasan and Bhanupriya, while Ramesh Aravind, Chandrasekhar, Goundamani, Senthil, Vadivelu, V. K. Ramasamy, Raghavi and Vadivukkarasi play supporting roles. It was released on 5 March 1993. Kamal Haasan played an extended cameo in the movie without any payment, in order to help his friend G.N. Rangarajan come out of his financial crisis. The movie ran successfully in theatres, thereby becoming a profitable venture and helped the producer-director recover from his earlier debts.
