On February 17th 1943 Django recorded this tune Manoir de Mes Rêves with his Nouveau Quintette. The original Quintette had remained in England after learning of the start of World War II, but Django had returned to France and played in Paris throughout the war and the German occupation. This is one of my favorites of his compositions. The name has been translated as "Django's Castle" but I think it's more likely a gypsy caravan rolling down a leafy French lane in search of a good fishing spot.
