Is intermittent fasting safe if you have a thyroid disease?
Here is the Heal Yourself Guide:
Usually, intermittent fasting in thyroid disease is very safe. However, there are two big distinctions that we have to make in the case of hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, or Hashimoto's or Graves disease.
Now, in the case of hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's disease, you can do intermittent fasting, but you should not do more than 16 hours of fasting.
If you do more than 16 hours of fasting, this can be dangerous for you. It can be dangerous because thyroid activity can decrease, which you don't want in these conditions.
If you have hyperthyroidism or Graves' disease, you can do a bit more than 16 hours. You can go up to 20 hours of fasting. It's perfectly fine.
The reason for that is that Heal Yourself Guide is different for -hypo and hyperthyroidism.
While you are doing intermittent fasting in thyroid disease, you can modulate the activity of your thyroid, and that's good. However, if you do it for more than 16 hours, you can "negatively" impact your thyroid. This is something good if you have hyperthyroidism because the thyroid activity tends to decrease a bit, and if you have hyperthyroidism or graves' disease, this is something that you want to achieve.
The other thing that is very important for both cases for hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's or Hyperthyroidism and graves' disease, is that if you're doing intermittent fasting, it's not an excuse to undereat
so you have to make sure that eat at least 1600 kilocalories a day.
Doing fasting doesn't mean that you have to starve your body because if you starve your body you stress your body and if you stress your body then it's just going to worsen your thyroid health whether being Hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's or Hyperthyroidism and graves disease.
Now, the next thing that I want to answer is why intermittent fasting is great if you have thyroid disease. The most important benefit is healing your gut. It gives you time to heal the gut, and this is very helpful.
Another thing about intermittent fasting is that it helps you decrease inflammation, which is usually highly present in thyroid and autoimmune diseases. In the case of thyroid disease, I'm not talking about an inflammation that is causing you to take medications like pain killers, or anti-inflammatory drugs.
The only thing that could happen when you're doing intermittent fasting is that you can notice a little bit of tiredness at the beginning. Now, to overcome these problems we made a great formula that is called Electrolyte Boost Pro. ([ Ссылка ])
